DescriptionBefore we start the weekly posts of new art, as promised here are the wonderful drawings that were gifted to me by my friend Andy when he gave me the Batgirl drawing. Both pieces are production design drawings for the 1998 Warner Bros. animated film Quest for Camelot. Each drawing is signed on the back by Disney artist / animator Chris Ure (Big Hero 6, Frozen, Tarzan, just to name a few) and of course created during his time at WB.
Anyhow, huge thanks to Andy for not only his generosity, but also his friendship. It’s people like him that help make this hobby so much fun. By the way, I should really apologize to all of you (Andy and Chris especially) for the unintentional cropping. The pieces were, unfortunately, a bit too large for my scanner. Will update the images at some point when I can get the extra section photoshopped. (6/14/21) Thanks to my buddy Jonathan for helping me get a complete image posted. It was just a couple of inches off the top, but I still feel the piece deserves to be seen in its entirety. Social/Sharing |

Awesome! I get as much pleasure from prelims and comps as I do from the big finished pieces --- so much charm to this one! It almost looks like a whimsical battle between two different rendering styles

Thanks for the comment Mike! You know, one of the most intersting things I get from my art conversations with animator friends like Andy and Ben, is that they have such a refreshingly unique perspective on comic art. At least in terms of what they look for and appreciate in a drawing. And then when you see their collections and what they buy, it all makes sense. At the same time, both Andy and Ben have seen portions of my collection in person and still totally get what I see and appreciate in my pieces. Really, just talking with them has been such an education. Learning the finer points of animation also give me a fresh new insight into my own artwork. LIke seeing the art again for the first time. How cool is that?
