DescriptionI was never the biggest Ka-Zar fan, but bought this series when it came out because I loved the artwork by Andy Kubert and Jesse Delperdang. I was particularly surprised when Thanos showed up as this seemed like a ridiculous mismatch, but somehow it worked, and Kubert's version of the character looked amazing. On this page, Ka-Zar steps through an inter-dimensional doorway to find Thanos grabbing Shanna and Zabu. Mismatch? Ted, you know as well as the rest of us that if Zabu can just penetrate the pinkie finger armor just another quarter inch, Thanos would be done for!

I felt the same way back in the 90s when this series debuted. I loved Andy coming off of X-Men and his work before that. I loved Mark Waid's writing too. Waid really is the best guy at throwing antagonists at the heroes he writes which don't always match up well in theory, but then he and his artists are able to pull it off as you say.
Andy drew one of the best Thanos renditions ever. This is a wonderful page to have from this series. Congrats on owning it and thank you very much for sharing it here with us on CAF!

That's a killer example of Kubert's work at the time - so much cartoony energy! When I think Kubert the first books I think of are Cap and Ka-Zar. Pages like this are why. I'd also be remiss not to mention Delpergang's contribution! Congrats!
