DescriptionRecently posting the Enric cover that goes with the memorable three part story involving Vampi fighting her arch rival made me go back into my archives to post this beauty. This is how the first BRQ meets her demise---killed by the very demon she conjured to kill Vampirella in the Queen's first story appearance (Vampi 49). It's worth noting that in the BRQ's first story appearance, Vampi and the Priestess never actually met. That happened in this three part story. The only story (currently) known to exist is the part two of the storyline (Eye for an Eye) which has the bulk of the action between the two characters. Also worth noting is the same demon who ended up killing the Queen is the same demon that blinded her in that first story masterfully portrayed by Maroto.Social/Sharing |

At the beginning of my artistic-hobby I found in a fleas-market in Rome (Porta Portese) a block of english comics , I bought it immediately... the block contained various pages with the excellent artwork of an unknown artistist very able to portrait girls !!! I started immediately to copy all that beautiful girls with a success in the publishing houses ... all this created GREAT envoy in the mind of other artists who did everything to damage me ...
Few years after the Warren Company started to publish Vampirella ... a masterpiece of the same unknown artist ,,, he was PEPE GONZALES (!!!)

Amazing story---never heard that one. I agree that few artists can draw women as sexy as Jose. With a pen, Jose can be rivaled---but definitely not beaten. He just has a way with smooth flowing lines and shading, especially with his early ink wash pages
