Description

Admit it. Don't you think Dr. Strange should've been a girl?

When master magician Gregor Maelech was assassinated, his daughter Talian inherited a bevy of arcane tools, a dilapidated inner city sanctum sanctorum, and a tome of pacts with seventeen greater and lesser demons of the infernal hierarchy. Obsessed with revenge on her father's killers, Talian resolves to wield as weapons the ichorous, personified evils that would rather consign her to Hell than obey her on Earth!

This short-lived series was one of my favorite comic books of the '90s. Alas, Talian's vendetta quest continued for only three issues, a portfolio, and a graphic novel. But even in that short a run, it felt more faux authentic, to coin an oxymoron, in its evocation of purported black arts than anything that ever appeared in a Stephen Strange story. I liked the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" slant to the concept, and the character's spunkiness and punk attitude.

Why didn't it sell? It's interesting to speculate. Too much competition? Did the 666 Comics logo backfire, precipitating cold feet from distributors or dealers? What mere mortal can say?

Change the "y" to an "e" and issue one's preorders would have doubled just out of curiosity. You gotta show the Demon Baby on the cover if you're still selling this as Demon Baby. Marketing aside, the star of this painting is the hot lady. All the colorful Fastner and Larsen horror elements adorn the cover to highlight her secks appeal!

Always been a fan of the artist. Just love the rendering even if the subject is a bit on the dark side.

Fastner and Larson are on my short list of artist that can do no wrong for me. It's very seldom that I love everything I've ever seen from someone and this piece is no exception. Gorgeous
