Description
An incredibly rare and beautiful page drawn by the young Jones as he was just entering the field of comic art in 1968. I was indeed fortunate to have been able to buy this through a Heritage Comics auction. In April 2005, the artist was kind enough to sign this artwork for me! No question, it is the most treasured artwork in my collection.

Thank you for your compliment, Jean Andre Macchini. This is, by far, my most popular piece of comic art I've ever owned. Made even more special by the fact Jeffrey Catherine agreed to sign it for me after I bought it (his "J" initial in the box does not show in this photo). His genius will certainly continued to be missed, but what an amazing legacy he left behind. Thank you again, Austin Gray

Wow! This is beautiful! I never knew that Jeffrey Jones had worked on Flash Gordon. I see he was a good fit for the character.

Ben, I wish you had the comic itself - issue #13 - so you could slowly turn the pages and be able to see what a magnificent job he did with this story. Since Charlton was the publisher, the color is not as high quality as it was when King published the first copies, but it is still a great comic. I was very fortunate to acquire this very rare page many years ago, and Jeffrey was kind enough to sign it for me (his "J" in the box is not shown in the photo since this is the auction photo). You are right about his style being a good fit for the character. Thank you again.
