The Second Earliest Barney Google Sunday Page Known to Exist 1924

Although it is one week later than my other early Barney Google Sunday original, I still prefer this strip with a Boston Beans theme. When I bought it in about 1990, it was owned by Joe Mannarino, a well known dealer in comic art. I paid a premium price, $15,000, because he told me that it was the earliest Google in existence.

A couple of years later I learned that three Google Sundays in sequence had turned up together and that this was the second earliest. When the earliest turned up in an auction, I paid significantly less than I had paid for this one [about $6,000 less!]. Joe made significantly more money due to his mistake/misrepresentation, and even though I told him how much less the actual earliest Sunday sold for at a prominent public auction, he offered absolutely NOTHING to compensate me for his misrepresentation about the second earliest Sunday original. The third Sunday is illustrated in Brian Walker's paperback book on Barney Google strips. Fortunately, it is my least favorite of the three 1924 Sundays.
