Jon J. Muth in a way is responsible for me getting back into comic books. I was at the Alameda flea market in San Fransisco and came across the tpb of Moonshadow. His art style caught my eye and after at least 10 years of not buying or reading a single comic book I picked it up and read through it that night.

That purchase then got me to stop in to a comic shop I was walking past and finding a complete set of Earth X which I then read and loved. That got me to do a bit of research and find out about Universe X & Paradise X then hop on ebay to purchase both sets & side issues.

After reading through those it triggered the thought for the first time in my life...."I wonder if I can buy oeiginal art from these...". I could, did and now look at me....I ended up loving it so muth :).

The Mystery Play is one of those interesting reads because it goes down some roads less traveled and tries to hit some higher notes through an eclectic setting. It walks that line of high art in the comics medium in writing, story/theme and art combined as our beloved comics do best.

Wanted a Muth piece and this is the one that called strongest to me in my price range. Happy to have it and the way he renders things will always appeal to me.

Lastly, this piece is larger that my scan/scanner and is comprised of seperate pieces ripped off watercolor paper then attached to a thick art board to create this look. A cool tactile analogue way to do it...love that.
