'Kristen" large format Illustration on board ** Patrick Nagel, 1983

SOLD! The "Kristen" original pencil drawing on board, signed by artist Patrick Nagel. Large format illustration board 24" x 36" with an image size in rectangle area of 20" x 30" Signed. It is very rare for Nagel to have signed ANY drawings and even some boards as they were not meant to be sold. These were created for the purpose of selling so considered Final Works.

One of Pat's rarest drawings created. Patrick Nagel, in order to meet market demand, was asked to draw large medium format drawings (it is believed he created only 14-16 pencils on board in this size). I have documented 15. His publisher Karl Bornstein wanted another medium to sell and Pat created this image, like the Kristen canvas and serigraph of the same name to meet that demand. The drawings were to be shown at the Dyansen Gallery in New York December 1983, but this one and a couple others were immediately purchased directly before that NY show by Gallery owner of Scattivodd Fine Arts. (Nagel Commemorative #6 fame!)

Scattivodd Fine Arts in Sausalito then showcased this piece for exhibition in June 1984 after Patrick died of a heart attack in February 1984. So the original 14-16. I have documented about 14. "Kristen", "Her Casual Pose" NC4 and "Lori" (both which he apparently did twice), "Swimmer" (the only known male which I own), "Teddy", "Heidi", "Woman on the Statue of Liberty", "Black Bustier", "Shannon" (Tweed), "Moon Lady" and "Cowgirl' (Lisa) and "Portrait of a Woman with triangle"

The "Kristen" canvas still holds one of the records at the time of its sale at $300k at auction. It is considered one of his best.
