Batman: Dark Allegiances by Howard Chaykin

When I first started out reading & collecting comics, Howard was one of the first artists I'd recognize and actively seek out the work of, this after I first read The Scorpio Connection, along with some notable issues here and there, covers etc.
In those early days, I was only aware of the work of the creators, not of what they were like, where their hearts & minds were.

I first met Howard during a London Super Comicon (in 2017, I believe) where he was holding court, as, I found out later, he's wont to do at any show that will have him. His gloriously flamboyant presence solidly confirmed the mental image of him I'd made in my mind and even though the encounter then was brief, it was definitely a big highlight (I did also meet Garth Ennis, Steve Dillon & almost JRJr there, so, you know).

I would later meet Howard again in Roubaix and at FACTS (my alma mater, the comicon in my backyard, as you like) where I not only obtained this piece, but some of the other works as well AND I was humbled to be the moderator for his panel, still a highlight of my interviewing experience.

This Batman is in deference to HIS Elseworlds story. I really like the emblem/cape blend.
