Let me taken you back in time. Skottie Young hadn't blown up the way he has now, and he was sharing a blog with Scott Morse, who still had one foot in comics.

Every day, the two of them would decide on a subject and each cough up their interpretation. By the time each drawing was finished it went up for sale to the first interested party (I believe at a fixed rate, but I could be wrong).

It wasn't as hectic as it is now, with pieces selling in micro-seconds, but they did move pretty quickly. Added to the time difference, I was never in luck, until this piece was skipped over.

If I recall correctly, it had even been on the site for a day or two, with other pieces moving (quickly) but this one remaining available.

Just the awesome combination of Scott's quirky interpretation of that odd-ball villain, the unique Scott Morse lines and the rush of finally not being passed over had me make the decision PDQ.

I still don't regret it one bit (I can't recall what I paid, but I reckon it was peanuts) and I even got to interact over email with that legend, whose work on Soulwind, Volcanic Revolver & Southpaw remains, to me, criminally underrated.
