The Sensational Spider-Man (Ben Reilly) by Federico Mele

A couple of weeks ago, Federico Mele and I bonded over our shared love over Ben Reilly's stint as the Amazing Spider-Man and especially that revamped costume. We both read Sensational Spider-Man #0 in our own native languages and found it to be meaningful for our love for the hobby.

The logical conclusion was to let Federico do his take, an homage or re-interpretation, of that cover (originally by Dan Jurgens & Klaus Janson). The result speaks for itself.

Big fan of the dynamic, yet recognizable pose (which fits within the theme of all the #0 poses on the lenticular cover). The figure & colour work is what steals the show, letting Ben/Spidey soak up all the attention.

Still, the piece has some nuanced background elements around the hero, like the webbing, as well as the skyscrapers. All in that subtle lighter-blue, so it wouldn't take away from the main attraction.
