Description
Legends of the Dark Knight #131 (July 2000) original cover painting for "The Arrow and the Bat Part 5: Epiphany". This 5 story arc spanning issues 127 - 131 was a rare crossover featuring Oliver Queen as Green Arrow and Bruce Wayne as the Dark Knight. This painting (and all 5 for this story) was done by master painter Hugh Fleming. This finale cover depicts Batman and Green Arrow fighting side by side against armed guards in the country of Dhabar (where Batman went to free Ollie). The photorealism is evident again, and I really love the brushstrokes in this piece, almost making it feel 3-dimensional. Hugh is quite the perfectionist and was not happy with some minor imperfections from storage and age, so he did some minor touch ups prior to shipping it to me. The painting is signed from when he did in 2000 in the lower left corner. Accomplished in acrylics on Bainbridge Board Number 80, with dimensions of 15.75" wide by 23.5" high. I also was fortunate to work with a CGC facilitator so that Hugh could sign the published book and allow me to get the yellow signature series label. As of today, this is the only CGC copy period for this book, also making it the only Signature Series copy!

I've never seen this before but it gave me some classic hardcover book boys pulp genre vibes. Like old school Hardy Boys. Very cool.

It looks like a painting used for a paperback novel used to entice general audiences.  Looks like acrylics with a classic gloss coat to age it like the classics.

It's like a Michael Herring Men's Adventure paperback novel cover from the 80's, but with Batman & Green Arrow!
