I was lucky enough to pick up this page in a Dueling Dealers episode from Mike Burkey a while back.

Some of the earliest comics I collected where from the "Captain" storyline by Mark Gruenwald and Kieron Dwyer. So I have a lot of nostalgia for these books and have longed desired a black suit Captain page. This particular piece is from Dwyer's first issue of Captain America and features one of the earlier appearance of that costume (it's debut was in issue 337 I believe).

Very cool! This is a precursor to all the event comics in the 90's where the main hero's mantle is taken over, but it is slow played here to give both characters storyarcs to explore what it means to be a hero and what it means to represent something bigger than one self.

Still my favorite Cap storyline to this day. Congrats on adding a page from such an impactful run to your collection!

Nice page you snagged here, Fanboy! I remember LOVING the Captain America run from this era, whether it was Dwyer, Ron Lim or anyone else. Gruenwald knew how to write great, fun stories!

Nice page! This run from 332-350 of of my very favorites and Dwyer was underrated Cap artist. One of my favorite runs to collect the art. Bravo!
