Great write up. This is definitely one of the more memorable covers from the speculator era, and one I remember fondly. Classic Sears.
I love that closeup of Robin's face in the top panel. Congrats!
Beautiful example of Breyfogle's Batman. Congrats!
These mini-posters are indeed amazing. Though, as a fellow owner of the Superboy version, I may be somewhat biased :) Congrats!
Great page from a classic run. Congrats.
Love it. Medina really grows artistically during his run on Dreadstar.
Great cover. These early Grummett images of Superboy were fantasic at setting the tone of the character. From his first appearance in AOS 500, to this cover, the opening splash from AOS 501 and the mini-poster from the same issue. They all have some piece of the cocky, fun loving, saving the ladies attitude that launched the character.
Sprouse and Story were really good on Legionnaires. Beautiful piece, congrats.
Beautiful example. Lots of nice backgrounds and character work on this one. Congrats!
Such an enjoyable story. Great cover, thanks for sharing.
Grummett can really work a grid. This 6 panel grid, with the center portion combined into a single panel, is a great example of that.
Excellent piece of Prime art. I'm a huge fan of Breyfogle's work on this series Thanks for sharing.
Very cool page from a vey cool story. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool. Love seeing Sprouse Legionnaires art.
Another excellent cover Ruben. I missed out on this one back in the day on eBay (back when covers like this were crazy cheap).
Love it! These early Superboy's by Grummett are some of my favorite pages.
Cool page. Breyfogle Prime art is great. Love the zipatone too.
So much nostalgia! Sears was really firing on all cylinders at this time. Love seeing these covers, thanks for sharing.
Jean and Scott have been in so many love triangles, it would take an academic of Hank's caliber to chronicle them all. Beautiful cover by Tom and Cory.
Love these Breyfogle Batman cards Shemp. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, far less "Imageafication" on this (thankfully). Another great Titans page Ruben!
Some of my favorite moments in Superboy came from pages like this. Really fun stuff Ruben!
A seven page Tezuka story from 1959, truly amazing. This must be a dream come true.
Beautiful art on this piece. The Bare Naked Ladies makes me chuckle because Grummett used them as a background poster in my Adventurers of Superman #503 piece (along with the Spin Doctors).
I loved when Sears would ink himself early on in his career. Wonderful image, congrats!
The recreation came out nice Pepe. I like the rope and batarang additions.
Great page showing off the Kirby inspired style Grummett used for these issues!
A very ... memorable scene to be sure. Quietly Authority is great!
The beginning of the modern age Superboy! Great page.
Congrats on picking up your first Superboy cover by the great Tom Grummett. Welcome to the club!
Wow, such an amazing cover. Glad to see it's been uncovered after so long. RIP Norm.
Very cool cover Shemp. I'm still kicking myself for not picking this up off of eBay when I had the chance.
Great piece Ruben. I actually pulled out those issues of Wizard (I still have all my copies) and looked for any articles that might fit this cover. I found some Superman and some Batman, but I didn't see anything with both. Regardless, it's an amazing example of the characters and major events that Grummett helped define.
Glad to see you reunited these two. I briefly considered trying when I still owned this one, but as so often happens, I found something else I wanted.
Love it, truly classic. Thanks for sharing!
Ha, great art, but it has the opposite effect on me. I never liked this pairing, and this opening splash tainted much of the series for me.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Great cover! I just finally got around to reading this recently. Lots of fun.
