For my money, Casey is the most exciting young cartoonist out there. Deft, complex, innovative storytelling and an abundance of incisive acting as seen on this page (51, I think) from Diana's Electric Tongue. As seen in Girltown.

The tangents in the backgrounds are purposely there and it goes well with all the beautiful curves used for the characters.
