DescriptionMy first commission EVER was by Jae Lee at SDCC 2019 so I credit him for starting the addiction. Ever since then, I had this idea and the timing was just right at Megacon 2021. I’ve made no secret for my love of Jae Lee’s 90’s art and this splash from X-Factor #86 (see additional image) is burned in my brain. I remember copying this original page SEVERAL times as a kid because of how striking it was.Jae asked if I wanted a re-interpretation instead of a straight recreation and it wasn’t even a contest. Seeing it done in Jae’s current style was a blast and he really ramped up the atmosphere of the piece. I got Jae to sign the comic page in old-school ball-point pen and I’ll be framing these side by side. A nostalgic gem colliding with current aesthetic - could not be happier with this piece. As cool as the reinterpretation is, it's just as amazing that it's for an image that meant so much to you as a kid. Congrats!

Reinterpration definitely the better call. You know one's homaging the other, but it's cool that it's still a departure, with the layout as well as his new trademarked style. Cyke's shadowed face staying was a MUST, though :) Congrats!

There's a certain fluidity to the bodies here that is fabulous. I love each and every style that Jae has used over the years, and he killed it with this piece.
