Description

In this story arc, Nova is battling "Yellow Claw" with the help of SHIELD and Nick Fury. We jump right into the action with this splashy panel page:

panel 1: yellow claw vanishes in a barrage of flashing lights. Thankfully Nova's helmet protects him.

mid-splash: Monsters attack! Wait, it's a mirage (feels like a mysterio story-line?) and it's actually yellow claw as we see in the zoom out of the scene with a flipped perspective.

Bottom left panel - cool close up of the evil yellow claw!

Yellow decides to move on from monsters to a very alliterative: "swirling,maddening mental whirlpool!

They don't make captions like these anymore, which is just too bad. Infantino was firing on all cylinders with this series.

Nova was holding his own until The Yellow Claw unleashed the mental whirlpool in typical dastardly fashion. I need to see the next page! Congrats Scott - another great page!

Infantino draws this like he drew Adam Strange, lots of fantasy elements in what is a superhero adventure story. From the creature design to the great punch and follow through, every bit of Infantino's artistry shines through.
