Bill Presing is a Pixar story artist and a comic book cartoonist. On the animation side, he was head of story for
Turning Red directed by
Domee Shi. On the comic side, the cartoonist is the co-creator (with Matt Peters) of
Rex Steele: Nazi Smasher. Bill made a splash with his two pin-up books
Belle Du Jour: Cheesecake in 2007 and
Bookplate Betties in 2008. He has an upcoming comic

For
Lightbox Expo Online 2021, Bill Presing gave a presentation on his
Lucky Boy graphic novel yesterday. The story concerns the sole human survivors of a world apocalypse: seven women scientists, one immature boy, and one old man. The wildlife includes land dwelling mutations of sea creatures. Bill was influenced by harem manga and naughty old men from
Ranma and
Dragonball. Ronnie del Carmen convinced him the old man should be the central character. Shelly Wan created a feature film style colorscript. Flatters made the first color pass and final color was done by Shelly and Mindy Lee. The book itself will be a European style hardcover album or
bande dessinee. The
French edition of Lucky Boy is available from
Ankama Editions. The English edition will be available from my brother's
Stuart Ng Books. The book is currently being printed and is expected in November after a cross Pacific voyage.
