Description
I have a couple of small commissions from Ryan Sook but was very excited by the prospect of owning a published piece. Particularly cool is that he is inking himself here.

Blue Beetle is a long-time favorite character of mine, owing to the immortal Giffen/Dematteis run on JLI. Thanks, Felix!

Awesome pickup. Love the vehicle design in the top panel, great action and movement. Ryan is one of the top modern DC artists for me personally, love his style.

Sook has changed his style so many times over the years, I've lost track. But as he's been a fundamentally sound artist for so long now, the art is always nice regardless of the style he's employing. This is the latest example of that. I really like it, especially the technique used to simultaneously draw the tire tread o nthe truck as well as the illusion that they are spinning really fast. Very cool.

Love the Blue Beetle action in this - and this ticks the "with guns" category. Great pick up and congrats!

Even without Booster, you got Skeets!  Love the way Sook takes a photorealistic style on the top panel with tight crosshatching and detail on the speed lines.  The dynamically posed Blue Beetle figure is incredible fine linework that works as an iconic image from this series.

I love Sook's work, man! Particularly interesting has been his evolution from a more Adam Hughes-esque style to something a bit more dynamic and all his own. This page is a great example of that!

As Ruben alluded to above, he also used to be a Mignola clone! Just proof that he can do anything ;)

Great page, Chris!  I love how explosive the first two panels are (in completely different ways!), but the tire treads in that top panel... MWAH!  Really cool.  Love the storytelling aspect of that last panel, too; the imperative not only of the forces firing on BB, but the departing plane in the distance beginning its takeoff...  A beautiful comic page; killer action shots and cut-to-the-bone propulsion of the story forward.  Great work.  Man, I have a Ryan Sook sized hole in my collection!  (Have to do something about that...)

That opening panel is a showstopper, but I can't help staring at that perfect second panel. Sook is such a master of composition.
