My first ever piece of comic art. The first time I met Mike Nasser.

Just a kid, I went to a con with 2 friends, saw Mike in one of the rooms. While we were waiting for Neal Adams to speak, I decided I needed to have a Mike Nasser drawing. So I went back to the room where Mike was.

I asked for Deadman, Mike didn't have a drawing pad. He got a page from the sketchpad of another artist in the room and flipped him a quarter. Mike charged $10. While he was drawing it, he said he might have to charge double. He quickly added "Just kidding".

He held the pencil on it's side to create those wide sweeps of lead. He was applying a lot of pressure. To this day, I can still see the very deep impressions on the flip side of the page.

Still awesome. As much as I love this piece, I was really into Deadman, maybe I should've asked for Batman? Update: I think I'll be OK now.

Deadman was created by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino.
