Description
The FERDINAND the BULL cartoon debuted in November 1938 and proceeded to win the Academy Award for Best Cartoon of that year. The film is especially notable for the appearance of many Disney animators in the film. Even Walt appears. This photo shows only the box for the jointed composition figure made by the Ideal Novelty and Toy Co. of Long Island, NY. Not pictured is the toy which I own in two variations, one bull painted brown and the other black. The November 28, 1938 edition of Life Magazine shows ALL of the caricatures the Disney artists made of one another. The Banderilleros are assistants on foot who execute the initial cape work and place the barbed darts (Banderillas) into the bull in the second act of a bull fight. It's over sixty six years ago that I first spoke Spanish. - The gentile bull also sniffed flowers on over three million packages of Post Toasties accompanied by caricatures of the Disney staff. I do have a partial box with a caricature of Walt upon his noble steed.
