Description"Venom: Let There Be Carnage" opens in two days!I can't wait. In honor of that, I thought I'd post two Carnage pieces tonight. The 2015-2017 Carnage 16-issue series was amazing, mainly due the incredible (and appropriately gritty) interior artwork of Mike Perkins. Issue #1 starts in a seemingly benign fashion, with Cletus Kasady in a diner, chatting up the lady behind the counter, though she does seem a little nervous. But (as this splash shows so graphically), upon hearing some disturbing news on the TV, the camera pans out to show that Cletus has gone full Carnage, surrounded by all the diners he has already killed, including the now deceased counter lady. Just a great way to start the series. If you're Carnage that is. Not if you're one of the diners. Social/Sharing |

I know it's violent and people are still used to thinking of the symbiotes as supervillains from superhero comics, but I really believe that they have far more potential being used like this, as Science Fiction/Horror characters. Their similarity to John Carpenter's The Thing is almost a road map on how to do it. Yes, there WILL be Carnage!

I guess there will be no tip. This is going to be a wild ride! Masterful composition to show the sick smile surrounded by the aftermath of his killing spree.

Timely add :) A grim scene courtesy of the psychotic Kasady. Perffect choice by Perkins to use that downward perspective, highlighting the carnage that Carnage has wrought. Scary good stuff, Paul. Congrats!

What a great splash - the perspective on this and the angle of the floor adds to the vertigo of this piece.

Well, that's one way to get a table. I wonder if he even realizes he killed all those people, or if the suit just did it in a moment of pique. I like that it's unclear, which makes sense for a serial killer super baddie. Oh, man, I'm really looking forward to the movie, too. It looks pretty cool. Gorgeous super detailed work from Perkins here, as he does. Congrats, and enjoy the movie!
