Description

Another NYCC acquisition I owe to Bootlegging - he sent me Fang Yi Li's information before the con, and we checked out her work in person on Thursday. I spend some time going through her books and this was there as a pre-done piece. The image really stayed with me, and on Saturday I went back to liberate it.

Yi Li's work is really interesting - the melding of East and West is always intriguing to me, and the pixellation effect that she introduces with the marker tip is a really nice, unique touch that she employs. She's got a great eye for color and texture, as is evident. IMHO she works a little bit better on a longer time-frame, and I would opt for an at home piece from her vs a con sketch.

She is on instagram @yili.fang, and she got a good picture of my cosplay!

This is cool AF...trying to find the right Glitch Mob track while looking at it but The Imperial March will suffice for now

Hey! Other than the ink spatter, this appears to be done completely with different types of markers. That's amazing!

The pixelation effect is a really neat touch and makes the piece wholly unique. Congrats on a great pickup, man!
