"Walt Disney's Family Album" (Mickey Mouse and Friends sticker book) - 1937

Disney Fans of the classic 1930s look of Disney cartoon characters, check this amazing vintage original art out! These are two large artboards from which colored stickers were made to place on one of sixteen pages for the British book, "Walt Disney's Family Album." Just like your own family album there are baby pictures but in this case of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Pluto, followed by pictures of when they have grown older. Also pictures of friends Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow.
Just a few snippets from a couple of stories that accompanied and explained their picture.
1) Mickey was born on a very fine day in the year 1928. It was the twenty-eighth of September, to be exact.
2) Minnie Mouse, who was born about six months after Mickey, lived in a pretty little thatched cottage in the village of Nether Wallop.
3) Baby Pluto was set off on his own by his mother to wander down the road towards the farm house, where Mickey had been learning to walk with a note on his tale. At the same time Mickey was strolling along the road when he saw the cutest pup in the world. "OH!" cried Mickey, "Who do you think you are?" And ,looking at the animal, he found a note tied to his tail. "I'M PLUTO AND WHOEVER FINDS ME CAN HAVE ME!" So read the note, and so Pluto belonged to Mickey. But you didn't know that Pluto's mother watched until she saw that Mickey was going to keep her son. "He'll be all right!" she said to herself. "Now I'm happy."
4)Donald Duck was born on Friday the Thirteenth, and has been unlucky ever since. -
Donald Duck was painted in four panels, wearing his British red sailor's hat, a baby bonnet in two panels, in a baby carriage in one (as he was in the 1937 short, Modern Inventions), but with a blue cap in one image.
The art is in ink and gouache on two large sheets of illustration boards, each measuring 21.5" x 20". Image sizes are 16" x 13" on both sheets, with space left for a block of text on the first. In that space I have placed a photo of the publication produced by Juvenile Productions Ltd., England. There are "By Permission Walt Disney-Mickey Mouse, Ltd." stickers in the lower right of each art board. - One last point of interest : Baby Minnie appears to be counting her toes on her foot of which there are four, just like the number of fingers on other Disney characters to simplify animation.
