I share your love for both Gammill and McLeod's works and this is a truly great example of storytelling and craftsmanship by Bob Mcleod (who I was first introduced to as a penciller on ACTION COMICS, so for me he was penciller first).
Looks like the life of a dealer. Wake up an hour before the convention, get in and buy out an artist before the show opens, and then look like a hero to his buyers. Bob McLeod does tell quite a tale of Tony's lifestyle and the colorist wanted people to not skip over the page by being overdramatic with the monochromatic.
Yup, a very nice example of a nicely drawn page that can be had on almost any budget. The biggest surprise for m was the excellent job either Amash or Cabrera did with the inks, keeping it looking very much like McLeod's own work.
I did 90% of the inking myself on this page, Ruben. It was a rush job and unfortunately I had to abandon it for others to finish up.
Ah, well that explains why it looks primarily like YOUR work, Bob. Thanks so much for chiming in and setting the record straight!
Zut alors! Heh, I see what you mean with the French. Hey, at least he didn't ask for some Grey Poupon...McLeod's work is always so clean and precise. I've always enjoyed his inking, but dig when I see his pencils, too. An underrated artist, imo, for the quality he puts out. Check out that stubble. Cool find. Congrats!
