Description

22.25" x 16" artist unknown. Original gouache painting on illustration board.

I took a gamble on this to see if there was any more information on who the artist was or what it was for, by removing it from the frame after I got it but nothing. It is exceptional in the detail and lighting perspective, especially the black and white tones. I am sure it was published as there are photography printer registration marks around the outside border beyond the art. The condition and age of the art board, as well as subject matter, make me guess this was done in the 1960's. I am not a satellite expert but if I had to guess, this was a concept painting for the military, of a DSP (Defense Support Program) satellite to detect the launch of enemy ballistic missles.

If anyone has any info on this wonderful painting, I would appreciate your input!
