DescriptionPaul Bransom was a noted animal painter, illustrating for many books and magazines over the course of his illustrious career. Bransom started out as a cartoonist, taking over Gus Dirks' popular Bugville feature after Dirks' suicide in 1902. Bransom drew a couple of Bugville features, the first one running from 1903 to 1906. This piece is from that series, which appeared in the Hearst papers. There is no caption, as it shows a bug checking his pocket watch against the time on an alarm clock. '04 was a long time ago. Seinfeld and Fraser went off the air that year. Like I said, long time ago.
