Description“Every dollar you bury under a treeAll the art that inform how you speak Little black books stacked to the beams It all falls into the sea” "Garbology is defined as the study of the material discarded by a society to learn what it reveals about social or cultural patterns. I find a lot of parallels between that and the idea of picking up the pieces after a loss or period of intense unrest, and seeing what’s really there. It’s information that speaks to who I am, who we are, and how we move forward. Furthermore, the idea of digging through old, often neglected music from another time with an ear tuned for taking in that data in a different way than your average listener would is exactly what Block does. Go through the information and see what you find." -Aesop Rock on the album title Garbology is the ninth full album from Aesop Rock and is actually the first that Blockhead has produced entirely. They have worked together on numerous albums and songs, but this is their first full studio album together, and let me tell you, it is fantastic. In complete sincerity, Aesop Rock has not only helped me through tough times in my life, but also with the grieving process, and for that I am forever grateful. I personally relate to his lyrics, and that goes back to the wake, work, sleep of Labor Days, up to the astounding, still discovering depth of Spirit World Field Guide, Garbology fully included. This piece is yet another wonderful example of the relationship between music and art! I remember the first time I realized that Skottie Young was a fan and friend of Aesop Rock, I was blown away. I have always had much love and respect for both. I really like what Skottie has done here, especially with Blockhead coming out of the trash can with the board. Aes has an Oscar the Grouch like appearance with the lid up just enough to bust out that mic. They are both can deep in the garbage, truly capturing the theme of this album. Thank you to John at Stupid Fresh Mess for this sketch (and that incredible pack job)! Social/Sharing |

Nice illo. I love music related illustration. It's even more special when it has a deeper or special meaning to the owner.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Value and self worth are also in your mind, as a message of reassurance can calm and bolster confidence like a lullaby for the soul.

Love this one. It's been great seeing Skottie draw his music related pieces and I know he's a big fan of Aesop Rock too. Congrats!

This is totally awesome! No regrets is my favorite Aesop Rock song. Makes me feel like I should do what I love.
