Description

Boris Vallejo "Gryphon's Eyrie" fantasy book cover illustration, 1984 for the late Andre Norton's Witch World Series- Gryphon trilogy book of same name. Published by TOR books.

Painting was published as a full page in Boris Vallejo's "Fantasy Art Techniques" book by Arco, 1985. The first image is the book plate. Please see other images for amazing detail. Also published as Gryphon's Eerie #4 Boris Vallejo 1991 Comic Images Trading Card.

Oil on board, signed and dated by Boris bottom left, 1984. Matted and framed, 17 x 27" image area framed to 25 1/4 x 35 1/4" and in excellent condition.

My first Boris Vallejo. If you are selling please contact me. I HAVE RECEIVED OFFERS but no plans to sell unless your paying TOP HA dollar sorry. With the way things are going for Boris I am afraid I may never get another one.

The color blending for the areas out of focus are just heavenly. The lady is just as well adorned as the horse. One may question is she is decoration for the horse or vice versa as they both compete for Boris' attention. I'm sure I would be the only one though.

Absolutely stunning. A beautiful example of vallejo's work. This will always be a special one since it is your first vallejo! He is a legend of an artist 😀
