DescriptionPanther's Prey issue 4 page 33. Original pencils by Dwayne Turner. I acquired this page from Terry Kavanagh, who was the editor of the series. Dwayne Turner gifted the page to Terry who eventually sold it to me. I took the opportunity to ask Mr. Kavanagh about working on this book and he shared some interesting thoughts. One of them is quoted here:"It was sheer pleasure working with Don and Dwayne. I worked with them both on many different projects separate from each other, but I knew putting them together on this project would be perfect. They got along tremendously well, and complemented each others' skills beautifully. In fact, Dwayne's ability to capture the nuances of Don's very subtle character points were the reason we all decided to print directly from Dwayne's pencils. We were concerned about losing any of the power of Dwayne's work in the inking..." That is, there are no inks in this book. It was colored directly over Turner's pencils, and that is why this book has such a unique and beautiful look. Social/Sharing |

Don, based on these pages you posted today alone, you've got a tip top tier Black Panther collection. Love Turner's art and this was a high point for him.

Thank you, Christopher! Yeah, I'm still in the processing of posting the collection. This is about 1/3rd of it so far. More to come! And I agree, Turner was great. It was a unique sign of respect to his skill that editorial decided not to ink over his pencils. I have one more of these pencil pages I'll post soon.
