Akemi Takada, who worked on many of the 80's Studio Pierrot series and helped to create
Kimagure Orange Road and
Creamy Mami, as well as frequently collaborating with
Mamoru Oshii (
Ghost in the Shell,
Urusei Yatsura,
Patlabor).
A 9-year-old elementary school girl, Miho Shinohara, dreams of one day drawing manga. A magical pen and sketchbook allow her to transform into a 15-year-old girl who she names
Fancy Lala. This new alter ego is talent scouted and she gradually follows the path to stardom–unbeknownst to her parents or sister, in a sort of prototypical
Hanna Montana scenario.
