Brilliant execution here, Jason - a fantastic commission idea, perfectly called forth by a master craftsmnan who (as you rightly assert) has no peer when it comes to capturing facial expressions via pen on paper.  Incredible marker usage, too, and with how attention-grabbing the beautiful fur is, it's really easy to overlook what I think is most impressive color component; the subtlety he imbues into the mouth, teeth and tongue...  That's, like, Adam Hughes-level control and mastery there.  And hey, while we're on the topic, if we're building a Jason-themed waiting list (so that that glorious inscription won't go to waste), I'll humbly submit my name for consideration as well. :)  Seriously, though - awesome piece, man!  Congrats!
