Description

This issue marked the return of the original script Wonder Woman cover logo which last appeared way back in WW 59 !! However, it was a short-lived return as the script logo only lasted from issues 205 to 211.

The issue starts off with Diana Prince making a big splash in her new job at the United Nations. She easily converses with people in different languages from all over the world. Diana is considered a plain Jane, mostly due to the Clark Kent effect caused by wearing eyeglasses as a disguise. Actually, "homely" was used, ugh. This idea even carried into the 70's TV show !!

In the bottom left panel, Diana is clearly smitten on this page and through to the end of the story. The colorist missed a golden opportunity to have her blushing. This is a beautiful page by Don Heck and Bob Oksner. Both of whom have previously established their facility for drawing the ladies. I think Oksner's inks were faithful to Heck's pencils but softened some of the hard edges. It's too bad this art team was a one-off. Although WW doesn't appear in costume and there's no action, I think this could be the best page of book.

The villain of the issue was Dr. Domino. Whose head was literally (wait for it) a domino tile !!

Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston and HG Peter.

When you said this could be the best page in the book, of course I had to go and look through the issue online to see if that might be the case.  While there were other pages that I liked at least as much, interestingly enough, I found that I was more enamored of the pages where Diana was out of costume.  Visually and artistically, they just seemed more interesting to me.  But you're right, of the non costume pages, this was a standout.

The guy calling Diana homely is no prize. Interesting that because of the double-standards of the period, the characters would not have thought of that comeback.

Great page!  The interactions between the characters, poses, and expressions really tell the story wonderfully.  The inking is top shelf as well

It's a great page in that Wonder Woman was now being written with the feminist movement in mind and actually speaking about the attitudes of the era.  The writing is of better substance than a typical action page.

Thats an awesome page from a great era. Thanks for sharing it. Now I'm going to have to dig out my copy of the comic and reread it.
