As described from the artist on his social media: "You'll notice a subtle difference between the final and the original art. That's because IDW gave me freedom to do whatever I wanted with this one. A dynamic composition with all the Ninja Turtles of the current run was my obvious choice. But for some stupid reason I can't explain, I forgot to send the layout and went straight to the final. The thing I wasn't aware of is that future Lita is no longer hanging with the rest of the crew. So I had to replace her for Alopex on the final product."
