Description
Splash page for "Sooper Hippie in Flower People," page 54 of Harvey Comics' "Bunny" #5, October 1968.

An oddball superhero spoof that appeared in a few issues of Harvey's kids comics in the late 60s, you can't get more "period" than this: "Rahvi" is a caricature of sitar superstar Ravi Shankar, and dig that smoked banana peel and the groovy hippie dude walking by in the background. I'm not sure who wrote the story, which is drawn by Howie Post, a consummate pro at funny animal and humor comics in general (Richie Rich, Hot Stuff, and according to Lambiek, DC's Adventures of Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, Adventures of Bob Hope). Not sure, either, how many appearances Sooper Hippie made, at least this one, and one more in Harvey's "Fruitman."

Post signed the page, but that must have gone against Harvey's policy, as the signature is whited out (the square-ish blob by the dancer's left calf). Perhaps this means that Post was especially proud of his work on Sooper Hippie?

Fantastic.  I can't believe that's from the same company doing Richie Rich and Casper!
