Description

Our latest art acquisition. By artist Herbert Morton Stoops, it appeared twice in Collier's, illustrating articles. Its first appearance was in the February 18, 1922 issue for "Will America's Dream Come True" by William Allen White. It was then reprinted the following year, in the April 28, 1923 issue, for "We've Got to Think This Out" by Will Irwin.

To me, it has a bit of a feel of Frazetta or Jeff Jones, who'd be working decades later.

Feb. 18, 1922 Colliers. The article title is "Will America's Dream Come True?" Under the illustration is printed, "When war breaks loose, all promises to be good vanish. Sherman said it about war. War is hell, and it has no rules."
