Description

This was the one that started it all, (in terms of my driving need to have my heroes draw my shit, that is.)

Adam Hughes had been making my head spin ever since I'd bought his first issue of JLI off the 7-11 spinner rack. iCandy was a creator-owned series created by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and moi, that enjoyed an all too brief 6 issue run published by DC in 2003. Adam came to town right after the series had wrapped, and since I'd been referencing his work endlessly while drawing it, I just had to see him draw her for real.

I'd already been tabling as a pro for a few years by then and had rubbed shoulders with some big fish. I thought I was a smooth operator. But as soon as I got to his table I started sweating and wheezing and committed every obnoxious fan cliche: I put by bag on his table, I made stupid jokes, I rambled to cover my nervousness, and on and on. Adam was a gent about it all, and drew me this.
