Published 1977.
Doc Savage was first published in a pulp magazine in 1933.
He first appeared in a comic story in 1940 and has been subsequently published in comic form by Gold Key, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Millennium, Dark Horse and Dynamite comics.
He can be considered as one of the first superheroes.

Love the DeZuniga inks and wash. From the very vague memories I have of the very few Doc Savage comics I read, I seem to recall him only being somewhat stronger than the average human with a physique like his, didn't he? Maybe like Luke Cage? Though I'm not sure even Luke Cage could freefall 3000 feet and land on his feet just by reaching out and grabbing a tree branch just before he reaches the ground. That's impressive!

A great pulp hero returned big courtesy of George Pal and Ron Ely in their 70's adventure on the big screen. It revived interest and Marvel was there to have a comic and a comic magazine. Mayerik and DeZuniga take advantage of the magazine sized non code freedom by going bolder and more raw action!

Allez-oop! And he sticks the landing. This a great Mayerik Doc Samson page. The panel layout is very cool, and really adds to the action, imo. And that ink wash! Love ink washes. Great find. Congrats!
