what a wild page. everything about this would stop me dead in my tracks to observe this. there is not a single inch of dead space in this page and the chess pieces gets to add so many iconic characters to make this page pop even more. congrats on this one. i love Dan Jurgens so this is a real treat for me.
Just –WOW!
Man, I LOVE this piece! The entire JLI team is there, and the Guice inks from this era were spectacular! They look especially good on the Blue Beetle figure in particular. I never played chess, but I've still always loved the chessboard motif on comic book covers. You have so much FUN stuff!
Incredible splash ! If you ever entertain selling or trading it. please keep me in mind...
Fantastic JLA splash page!
The ink is black, the page is white
Together we learn the plight of Ice
B Guice adds black, D Jurgens writes
The whole chess board, pawn the knight
A beautiful sight
And now a child can understand
That this is the Weapon Master's plan
All the land
The world is black, the world is white
Checkers by day and Chess by night
Song you play back, by Three Dog Night
Together they grow to see the light
To see the light
And now, at last, the Justice League
We'll have a dance of liberty
Liberty
Another great one Miki!
My favorite JLA. Great page!
This feels reminiscent of that Kirby FF splash where Doom is playing chess with the FF while a creepy vulture watches. Super cool concept by Jurgens and Guice. The dour expressions on each piece is a nice detail, too. Ice looks shocked. I was more of a Marvel guy, but I really did like Giffens Justice League, and stayed with the series, too. Great score. Congrats!
I forgot all about Guice inking Jurgens! That is some fantastic-looking art!
Historic JLA page!!!
Great splash from an awesome series! I just picked up page #20 from this issue!
