"From Hell's heart, I stab at thee." - Ahab. Now that is how you know a person truly hates someone else. I don't think Hallmark covers this sentiment. Agreed, Allison really did a nice job with this homage, and in fitting it into his larger story. And I dig the starred mask effect. Cool score. Congrats!
Can you imagine a section in the greeting cards? haha Thanks Josh
Thanks for the comic history lesson. And yes, a great re-interpretation. Congrats.
A winning composition that stands the test of time.
Congrats on a great DPS! Love Matt's homage.
Love Matt Allison's work man! I need to pick up and read Cankor...hugely negligent on my part! Congrats!
Oh you have to! His Fundrazr is still going wink wink
Wonderful page! I woulda shoulda coulda picked up an Allison piece at auction a few months ago, and I've been regretting not bidding on it...
Thanks Mike! Do I know that feeling. I always keep a look out for his pages, so there may be some friendly competition. As long as we don't bid each other up to $3.7 million we should be ok.
There are a couple pieces of comic OA I've craved that went over the million dollar mark, but so far the prices on Allson's work have been extremely reasonable. Truth is that my introduction to this great artist was due to your CAF gallery, so thanks for posting so many of your treasures! No good deed goes unpunished, so I'll apologize in advance if I ever outbid you on something of his, but I will rationalize my bad behavior by reminding myself that you own so many terrific examples of his work already.
You know they really are. There are many of his pieces that are completely reasonable. Awesome! and that is another fantastic part about this site and community. I am still finding new artists through CAF and I thought that I had heard of most, but there are so many cool artists out there. Haha That is the way of the road and thank you!!! I hope to see a Cankor piece in your gallery in the future and I will still like and comment on it, knowing deep inside that it could have been mine!
Brutal. Spectacular.
It is by far the better homage even with the teeth grinding in the torso. The thrust attack may not be as cinematic as swinging, but is far more effective in a comics flat visual medium.
Allison's star shines so bright, and this is just another wonderful example of his genius. You have so many wonderful pieces of his - I need to get on it! Ziritt as well.
He is an amazing and unique artist, and the same applies to Ziritt. Thank you Kevin!
So glad to see this ended up in a good home! Such an amazing piece of comix love.
Thanks David!
