DescriptionStory: "A Change of Costume", Segment: "Invitation List"Years ago I was able to purchase a pile of Milwaukee Sentinel Newspapers from 1943 to 1946 and admired the Cartoon pages starring Batman and Robin and all the other contemporary testimonies. The Batman Dailies are also collected in wonderful books published by Sterling. Besides the fact that I love Dick Sprang’s and Bob Kane’s art (he put a lot of love and work in his Dailies because it was his favourite medium) those Strips really contained some great and exciting Stories. I only can assume how those Strips left an impression on the people of this time. Last year, after a long quest a wish came true when I was finally able to get my hands on this wonderful Original Art from one of my favourite artists with my favourite Batmobile on it, YEAH! And it was Dick Sprang´s third Batman Daily Strip ever. Many thanks to Frank Giella for his support and to my friend Andy, the „King of Ham“ who travelled all the way from Philly to NYC to pick up this beauty for me! Social/Sharing |

Holy Golden Age Batman!!! Love that retro Batmobile and also the shading and textures throughout! Can't beat these classic versions of Batman & Robin!

This is so much fun! Love the point of view in every panel. So much suspense mixed with the innocent formality specific to war era newpaper strips. Love how he spotted his blacks

Ahhhh... where was Robin carrying the flashlight? That answer proves he's one of the toughest characters in Gotham.
