Description

A Pretty Girl is Like a Maladi-New Teen Titans 18 is one of my favorite Titans stories. Maladi is an innocent woman intentionally infected with a terrible illness by Russian government official as a weapon against Americans.

The Russian Starfire seeks to end her life while the Titans attempt to defend her. Kid Flash drips with venom toward Starfire, who fights all the Titans until he relents. The Titans take Maladi to the hospital where she dies.

The key sequence is on last page-see the second image-which inspired me to ask for this commission. Starfire reveals he volunteered for the mission to kill Maladi to spare her an agonizing death, not for medals as Kid Flash angrily suggests, but because he loved her and this was supposed to be their wedding day.

As always, Romeo (the inker of the original story) was great to work with.

Sweet piece steeped in Titans lore from the 60's and 80's. Starfire catches Kid Flash in the noggin'.

This was a sad story. Starfire appeared in the original Teen Titans 18 and New Teen Titans 18.
