Description

This on I picked along time ago.
I used to have up on the old Longbox site and it is one of the many pieces that did not make the transition to CAF - until now.
I really love this image which shows the Legionnaires returning from an unsuccessful mission, bedraggled and defeated, all except for Shadow Lass who is still trying to figure what they should have done differently.
There is also sketches on the back including one of Laurel Kent. (see additional images)
I am updating this to note that the artist now goes by the name of Travel Foreman and that this piece was submitted to DC but not published.

Wow, what a beautiful piece!

I wonder if it isn't linked somehow to Issue #1 of The Legion, from back in 2001. It reminds me a lot of the cover for that issue, and it's the exact lineup of Legionnaires who made it back from the Kwai Galaxy after Legion Lost, which explains why Saturn Girl and Ultra Boy are so close to each other (Live Wire having just sacrificed himself). Brilliant art, that says so much without a single speech bubble.

Wow, it's not often that I'm impressed by art drawn by an artist I've never heard of that probably spent less than a minute in the comics biz, but this guy was pretty damned good! I can only assume he left to go back to some other form of illustration where the pay was better...
