Description
"Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?"

Wait, wait, wrong song.

"Subterranean the house of worms
Enter in and let my voice be heard
They call to me bearing evil grins
Accounting all here is the den of sins

 Blessed black wings
 Blessed black wings
 Blessed black wings
 Blessed black wings"

(From the title track off of High On Fire's third album, "Blessed Black Wings")

This poster was made for High On Fire's New Year's Eve show at The UC Theatre in Berkeley, CA, which unfortunately ended up being cancelled due to Covid. However, the show cancellation does not remotely detract from the fury which Alexis Ziritt has wrought with this concert poster. Have your eyeballs melted yet? Cover them before it's too late.

I always love to see the forces of music and art come together, and the end result here is excellent, albeit not for the faint of heart.

Alexis Ziritt x High on Fire. Brutal.

To say I am happy about this one, is a complete understatement. Thank you Cam at Inky Knuckles and thank you Alexis Ziritt!

UPDATE
Alexis has added a sketchbook and coffee mug with this image on it along with the text "It's Drawing Time" to his Bigcartel store. I now have the pleasure of looking at this every morning (see additional image). "The best part of waking up, is Ziritt on your cup."

I'm a lifelong fan of the Horror genre, though I must admit I'm not quite as into the "over the top" stuff done for shock value. However, I always enjoy seeing music related art. So savage!

Thanks and same Ruben! I am a big horror fan and I think there is some stuff, whether it be art or film out there that does it just for shock value. This piece isn't that though (I don't think you are saying it is either).

I always listened to many different genres of music growing up and still do, and High On Fire is one of those rare bands that has stuck with me due to how technically proficient and extremely heavy they are. Ziritt matched the intensity of the band with this piece and he also successfully captures the mythology of the Blessed Black Wings album. As a fan of both I totally dig it, but do not expect many others to. It definitely helps if you are familiar with the band or a fan of Ziritt.

Great pickup, Tyler. Super ghoulish.

I'm almost certain I saw this flyer when I was walking by the UC Theatre around that time.

Haha without a doubt. Covers a whole range of emotions, that's the true beauty of metal right there.

I've seen a lot of ASM 238 homages, but this one is a "Hell" of a take!

2020 and 2021 were defintiely years that people couldn't wait to tear Father Time up.   Alexis Ziritt gets to the zeitgeist of the times with this wicked cool art that is also telling commentary.

Yes! Such a gnarly piece from the amazing Alexis Ziritt. So glad you were able to add this to your collection. Goes great with the Allison Heavy Metal pages too.

Thanks George! Also thank you keeping an eye out as well! :) It pairs quite well with them, one big Allison/Ziritt High On Fire sandwich.

Amazing Spider-Man cover homage alert! This is a great illustration, and I love the homage to the goblin tearing the Spider-Man costume in  half cover. (#238). And I always want to tear the last year in half, especially the last few. ;) Heavy metal, dude. Love it. Congrats!

That's wild! What a great and imaginative piece! Big congrats. Also, I can't tell you how much I love the fact that it's on a mug too!
