DescriptionThe Sentry: Fallen Sun # 1 May 12, 2010"Siege: Epilogue" pg 5 Inks over pencil on 11x17 Marvel art board Writer: Paul Jenkins Pencils: Tom Raney (Signed lower right) Inks: Scott Hanna (Signed lower right) The funeral for Robert Reynolds, a.k.a, The Sentry, and his wife, Lindy. Many of America's heroes share their greatest moments with each other, as they mourn the death of a hero. The SIEGE has ended and taken its toll on both sides of the battlefield. The event seven years in the making has claimed many lives, and in this, its final chapter, a universe comes together to mourn the Sentry. The shocking death that ended the fight and gave birth to a new Heroic Age is remembered as a writer Paul Jenkins returns to lead the farewells. "We'll say farewell under the eye of the sun, where he will now rest for all eternity. Some souls burn brighter than others. Sometimes with the power of a million exploding suns. But in the end, the sun sets for us all. It always sets for each and every one of us. But the sun always rises. And every time it does, Sentry... I will always think of you." Reed Richards This was a proper goodbye for the Sentry. He was never meant to be an enduring character. His first appearance was a standalone story that didn't require any follow-up, but Marvel kept bringing him back. With every subsequent appearance he felt more and more out of place. You can't just stick the world's most powerful superhero into the background. We've said goodbye to the original Sentry once before. This issue gave us the opportunity to say goodbye to this flawed iteration of the Sentry. I know he has come back since then, but this was an important and emotional moment. Takes place after the events of Siege #4. Social/Sharing |

From his origin, you would have thought Marvel would have just sidelined The Sentry for being overpowered, but they worked their Marvel magic and actually gave us series and team ups. Sentry actually built up a fan base who intrigued and invested. This funeral issue gathered all the heroes and probably hints that he could return.
