Holy smokes. I saw AA post his process for this cover on Instagram. The amount of detail and work and his committment to the work is so clear and enjoyable in all of his art, but ESPECIALLY this cover.
I believe he didn't like the eyes on Magik at first and adjusted them. I love how somewhat narrowed they are on the character. It's not so much as a sultry look on her face, but rather an expression that says "Don't mess with me."
And, of course, Magik stands in a cool contrast to the background characters that complement the sleek look of one of the coolest X-Men of all time.
Congrats on picking this one up. BIG time.

any AA piece is just a marvel of beauty and what he brought to this cover is perfect. Magik looks beautiful but dragons behind her makes this cover stand out on another level. congrats

it is smaller than 11x17 and certainly not his large size, it is maybe 9x12

Great cover with the contrast of Magik and hyper detailed background that pushes her soft and spiky features out even more!

So good. Illyana has such a great design and AA's rendition here is sublime. Love the downward perspective, her looking right at the camera, and that background reverse of black/white takes it over the top! Congrats!
