DescriptionPublished 1995.I was always a big fan of Steve Ditko's art. I of course loved his Dr. Strange art and I have always thought he was the greatest Spider-Man artist. When I started to collect art, his Marvel art was unobtainable for me, so I picked what I could get from any other title. Hence this page - at a glance you can tell it is Ditko. Social/Sharing |

You absolutely can tell it's Ditko immediately upon putting eyes on it. I also like Reinhold's inks, as he gave Ditko's pencils a more contemporary finished look than the more "dated" look it had. What a thrill it must've been for him to get to ink Ditko, too!

I agree, Reinhold is an underappreciated inker.

Looks like you got one that Ditko owned because if I had sold it it would have been signed by me. I don't think any of the Phantom 2040 pages he owned were for sale before he passed. At least I didn't see any beforehand.

Interesting, I got on it on eBay about 20 years ago. I had assumed it originally came from you. Since Steve didn't sell his art, I wonder if Steve had gifted it and then that person sold it.
Or was it art that was not returned to Steve?

That would make sense because he was not known to sell his art then. I'm sure he got all of his Phantom 2040 art as I did.
I guess you don't remember if you bought it from me or not on Ebay. My user name would have been inner-view back then. I usually sign art, but if a dealer bought a pile from me they may not have asked me to sign them.
