Description
When this mini-series came out in '93 the X-Men were hotter than Remy's love for Rogue! Wolverine was my hands-down favorite (no surprise), but that smooth-talking, card exploding, Cajun was right up there.

I've been wanting to get a nice example from this series for a while but the selection was limited. I just missed out on pulling the trigger on a panel page with Gambit and Wolverine that ES had listed, hoping to hold out for a DPS. I never thought I would have a chance at one of the four covers!

A previous owner had a great-looking overlay created with the Gambit title.

Thanks for the smooth transaction, Glenn. And a special thanks to Wolviefan!

Gambit has always been so interesting to me, because I was still reading/collecting comics, including X-Men, when #266 came out, but unlike you 90's kids, he seemed like a throwaway character to me and I don't have any affinity for him to this day. So I'm honestly fascinated by the fact that so many X-Fans actually LOVE him so much, because I suppose I just don't understand why. That may be a topic we'll have to chat about some day! At any rate, I've always said that Lee Weeks is one of the absolute best artists to break into the industry over the past 30-40 years and he can make anyone and anything look appealing, as he demonstrates here on this cover. Kudos on landing a rare mini-series cover of one of your favourite X-Men!

I love this cover, even if I didn't read the book. Lee Weeks can do no wrong - truly a modern master! Congrats, now back to your regularly scheduled DPS programming?

really awesome, all the covers from this series really popped, lots of nostalgia. Wish they made a Gold Foil version for every cover tho instead of just #1 haha. Congrats James!

Now being without Rogue takes a lot of Gambit used to
Should learn to Lee Weeks it, but I got issues
Being without you is all a big heartache
Instead of getting easier, it's the artist's best own take
I'm addicted to art Remy, you're a hard Gambit to break.

I've often seen art overlay a portion of the title for a cover, but this has got to be the most integrated title and art I have ever seen. Really done well. Congrats.

Believe me when I tell you that this mini was HOT - we felt the heat all the way in Pakistan, and these 4 issues were VERY highly prized. The logo is superb, but let's not deny Lee Weeks - the man does not shy away from a challenge and Gambit's pose is a challenge to say the least. Also, Lee Weeks is a wonderful person - God bless him and his endeavors.

Congrats!

Love this, man.  The covers to this series, with the super big title lettering, are seared into my brain.  So cool how it's used as background.  Graphic goodness paired with Weeks's TOP illustration skills.  He's so good.  Prime exampe of his stuff here, bud.  Big congrats!

Talk about your perfect MASSIVE UPERCUT setup. Baddies always walk right into that one. KAPOW! Wow, this is an excellent Gambit cover. I love the layout for this, and that oversize title. It was just so cool looking on the stands. And now you have that coolness for yourself. Great 90s cover. Congrats!

Back in 1998, I was addicted to the Marvel vs Capcom game in the arcade and got pretty good at it. It was a tagteam game where each player got 2 players. I always had gambit as my second player...I'd use wolverine to build up the super, and then I'd quickly switch to Gambit to use the super and he'd throw a ton of cards for a 46 hit combo or something. This cover and this pose is bringing back such memories of that. Like I said, nice piece ;)

Ah, the good old days when the title would take up 1/2 the cover :)  Kidding aside, this is one of those covers that needs all the cover stats to take in the full impact.  Congrats on the pickup!

Incredible design on this, underscoring the magic that can happen only in comics, with words and pictures conspiring to land the greatest dramatic impact possible.  SCORCHINGLY fantastic cover, James!  In the split second that passed before the image clicked in my brain, my first thought was of a Mignola (who executes this type of image - bad guy / monster leaping at the hero, seemingly suspended in mid-air - with surgeon-like precision), but it is, of course, SUCH a pleasure to see master Lee Weeks' take on it.  Superb add, James!  Congrats!
