DescriptionAbsolutely stunning color comprehensive painting (on 76cm x 56cm illustration board) for the very first Harry Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” (2001). This is really HUGE for me, as my kids and myself are pretty big HP fans…as the final key movie poster artwork is (probably) unattainable (as it’s with Warner Brothers), this is definitely the best HP piece I could hope for… :-))Some slight differences to the final painting (Fluffy and the Quidditch players were not used and the castle was made even larger), but already pretty close to the final result… Published in “The Original Art of Drew Struzan” (2010)… Social/Sharing |

Another Struzan stunner. I am running out of superlatives. At this point, you already have more Struzan pieces than I have words to praise them.

You are rapidly gathering quite a collection of Drews work. Now all you have to hope for is that the family of elderly directors do not want their Drews. They did look a bid doddery last time I saw them.

This movie created something that still means a great deal to a few generations of fans and will always be fondly remembered as we can see it endure with spin offs, theme park attractions, reunion specials, cosplayers and a passionate fandom. The Struzan image is one of his career triumphs as it is ingrained in pop culture history and this is close enough to it that most wouldn't care.

All of the Struzan pieces you've posted are amazing, but this must have been nearly impossible to land. I can't imaging the number of rabid collectors you had to outflank (and outspend...) to take this one home. The likenesses and beauty of it are off the charts, as we've come to expect from this artist

To quote Phantom of the Opera: "Think of me, think of me fondly. When you say goodbye..." to this piece. :-)
