Winnie Winkle Sunday Strip 1

So I blame Anthony Snyder a great comic dealer I have done business with on multiple occasions. Once as gift he added a Winnie Winkle daily and I was happily surprised and also thought WTF. Looking at Frank Bolle's art I appreciated his romance style work and started to appreciated his style which at first I was unimpressed.

Then I looked up Winnie Winkle and discovered how long this strip had been around, how it was a pioneering strip in those days.

Well the bang for the dollar on this Sunday strips was too good to pass up. Since I love Sunday strips for the size and amount of art you get I picked up 2 from Anthony of Winnie.

Winnie Winkle is an American comic strip published during a 76-year span (1920–1996). Ten film adaptations were also made. Its premise was conceived by Joseph Medill Patterson,[1] but the stories and artwork were by Martin Branner, who wrote the strip for over 40 years. It was one of the first comic strips about working women. The main character was a young woman who had to support her parents and adopted brother, serving as a reflection of the changing role of women in society. It ran in more than 100 newspapers and translations of the strip's Sunday pages were made available in Europe, focusing on her little brother Perry Winkle and his gang.
